This post is in memory of Violet Dempsey, who passed away February 22, 1997.  10 years ago.

When reading her memorial in The Gazette today, I realized it was her tenth anniversary.  Thank god people still put these things in the paper to remind you.  92 (some say 93) years, 10 dead, and she's still making the papers.

And here I am still trying to get my name in the bloody thing (the paper that is).  Hopefully it won't be in an obit or memorial (at least not before I'm due).

To say a few words about Aunt Vi would be an understatement.  Aunt Vi was in herself.... a statement.  Amazing woman, proud to have been her family... only just.  You see, Aunt Vi (or, rather, Great Aunt Vi to me and Kevin, 2Great to our kids), died two weeks before I married Kevin, so we weren't "officially" ever family.

My favorite Aunt Vi story would have to be the afternoon we sat in the living room, watching TV, and an OXFAM commercial aired, requesting donations.  Being an older lady, and the permissions that come with that stature, she piped up with "if the bitches would stop getting pregnant.....".  I nearly peed my pants...and I didn't think to argue for a second.  Out of the mouths of babes indeed... *AND* old ladies.

We released Episode IV today of AnteRockstar, and contrary to the premiere of Episode I, I didn't get any screaming phone calls *phew*.  I'm somewhat relieved, although I must confess to still feeling a twinge of fear whenever I get comments or emails (merciless would hardly begin to describe some of the people in my entourage).

What a word, entourage... how would you like to be reduced to being someone's satellite?  Good grief.

The footage we shot in the yellow chair (one of the few things we posess, and one of the first things to be salvaged) is Aunt Vi's chair.  It is all we have left of her.  She left us money, she left us trinkets (actually, at the end of the episode, during the credits, there is a small box top with a red ribbon, that is also hers).

Most of all, she left us love.  and we know it.  The box top I mention is a musical one, run on a watch battery.  The thing is over 20 years old, and still runs.  When it wants to.  Just like Aunt Vi did.  So every once in a while, the box top goes off and either makes a static noise, or... on a good day, sings a tune to you.. lol... Just like Aunt Vi did too.

And back to 10:17... it's not the time, it's a verse (our anniversary is coming up, our 10th married, and our 17th together).  So... I looked it up:

John 10:17...v--> Therefore doth the Father love me: because I lay down my life, that I may take it again...VRSEa_joh_10:17-->..VRSEn_joh_10:17-->

And for those of you who like to read ahead:

..VRSEb_joh_10:17-->10:18...v--> No man taketh it away from me: but I lay it down of myself. And I have power to lay it down: and I have power to take it up again. This commandment have I received of my Father...VRSEa_joh_10:18-->..VRSEn_joh_10:18--> ..VRSEb_joh_10:18-->

God rest your soul Aunt Vi...  We loved you then, and we STILL love you that much... to this day, all these years later.
