I listen to such a wide variety of music, but often end up sticking to the same old staples... The Cure, Madonna, and lately... Interpol. (If you're interested in what I'm listening to/rehearsing... consult my favorites list on www.youtube.com/anterockstar).
Then I go on tangents just for fun, and this morning, landed on a bunch of old 70's stuff, a place I know I ended up in last summer, seeing as I covered the Karen Carpenter story around this time last year as well. I tried "Yesterday Once More" this morning, and god almighty, for a starving woman, she sure had a set of lungs. I can't breathe through it...lol....
Watched some video this morning from back then, and it's amazing how things have changed. It seems it used to be that talent drove audience.. Like an actual ability to sing and connect with and captivate an audience with something inspirational and beautiful...sweetness...
*Makes today seem rather sad, so much has changed*
Seems theres a penchant today to capitivate audiences with shocking behaviour more than anything else... what're we doing the shock and awe thing? Hmmm...
Unfortunately, the way the deck is stacked these days.... I mean, you don't get headlines for good behaviour.
In any case, took a good listen to some Canadian artists this morning, in particular a couple who now have stamps in their honor. Seems way back when, Canada's music scene was really coming into it's own....
I wonder what the fuck happened there? Cause I ain't seen nothing the size of Anne Murray in a while here in Canada...and for the most part, our big acts are now in the States....So, enjoy these little trips down memory lane....and go buy a stamp already and write to someone today!
