My cup runneth over. This weekend was like reliving Shwatarded only
twice. Friday night in Oshawa the 3Tards played a show in the Groove
lounge that was tight, and moving… ALOT. I personally nearly missed
their opening number, and suffered a banged knee running across the
floor. Cameras have been dropped several times this shoot, we’re lucky
our lenses are still intact. The lighting isn’t great at the Groove,
but I got my Moshawa shots alright, and left my voice box on the
stage. I sang myself a little duet with John…lol… in my dreams.
Of all the moments I’ve spent with them, they continue to surprise me
endlessly. John dedicating a song to Mike Majewski sent me reeling.
What a tremendous amount of respect that man has, and how proudly he
flounces it… One of the things that have made the Tards what they
were (oh, how it pains me to refer to them in the past tense) is their
ability to connect with an audience. To realize what is important to
them, and give them that…. while you’re giving them a big fat dose
of yourself.
A spoon full of sugar…
Last night was nothing short of magical. I shot some of the best
footage of my career. My vision was expanded immeasurably. I promised
I would cry, and I did (fuck you Fox), but in the end, it didn’t hurt.
I didn’t get to say goodbye before rushing off for the train… but
like Cinderella, I left a piece of myself behind.
The boys are now no longer, and I can say that somewhat peacefully. If
satisfaction is something you can have, then every single soul in that
place left satisfied last night. I have no proof, but I know, because
I did, and I’m impossible to satisfy.
Dramatics aside, I won’t actually review the show per se… I think it
will speak for itself one day. I know, I have the footage.
Working the crowd last night was the most fun I’ve had in ages, and
I’ll thank Fox Tard for reminding me of my place. I’m gonna miss
him…
I learned last night what it feels like to endure pain for the sake of
gratification. To go through pain to get to the good….. on the other
side.
Wherever these boys end up, I hope they’re happy. I don’t think I’ve
ever appreciated how painful it is to be a man, a real man, the type
who sees beyond his immediate satisfaction, how painful that mortal
vision is, in order to bring those he loves their hearts desires.
They have made me a happy woman.
