your credit, you have to realize what the fuck you’re doing. End of story.
Demonstrating won’t do much, until you realize it.
You.
Me.
Apparently my notes are hard to follow, I can imagine, you’re starting
at the end. I understand them though, and can’t wait to read them back
to front someday. Should make for a good story.
I’m gonna be moving on from the Anterockstar engine and handing over
the wheel to everyone else for a while during the summer. I’m gonna
explore my inner Anathema, and I’m gonna play with my kids. My poor…
poor… suburnt babies. Emma is burnt to a crisp.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I’ve scheduled myself a place and
time where I can actually stop looking, and find myself. I’ll be
heading to SOS tomorrow to enjoy some soothing sounds. After riding
the Tards last week, and listening to them constantly to keep me awake
during this whole I don’t even want to reefer to it anymore…
I had my big screen debut last night. What a fun night. We were an
absolute hit. I have to admit I walked in three clips before ours, and
not only that… ours was third to last. 3 Truly is… a magic number.
I got to do a big Q&A and yours truly managed the guts to march right
up centre stage, and address the crowd twice! They were pretty
impressed at the size of production we managed to pull off. We had
full on location shoot with, a soundstage, four bands (WITH a big name
headliner), a strong crowd, a fund raising beneficiary, corporate
sponsorship, all this in a clip full of energy and drive, with an
explosive dramatic ending featuring a fleet of police officers. Oh,
and we also have merch to give away….
And it all had press coverage before it started (and not just my own,
Rogers AND Metroland picked me up personally, and canadian business is
watching…)
Hell of a way to launch a production company. I can’t wait to go to LA
again now…
My big Tard stars didn’t show up, but that’s ok, they’re pretty burnt
themselves. Being big rockstars, and trying to feed ones self too is a
big job. We’re all doing our best to take care of each other, and
frankly, I couldn’t love those boys more:
Me to LeTard, after he thanked me for paying him a compliment:
“c’est mon plaisir absolu. Toi, John, Fox, D, et Keith sont des hommes
merveileux dans tous les sens. If more men were like you….
You guys stand as a testament to all that’s right in my eyes. Fuck em
if they can’t take a joke…lol…”
A joke.
It could be, if we all saw it that way. Certainly, after spending 3
years of my life pursuing my craft every waking hour…
To watch it unfolding before my eyes sometimes is dizzying. Certainly,
last week was dizzying…
I’m planning myself a dizzying experience for Canada day. Hopefully, I
will be able to muster the support I need to reach my goals this time.
What are my goals you may ask?
1. Raise a million dollars for Breast Cancer.
Why? Because cancer runs in mine, and everyone elses family, and we
must find the key to unlocking that future without cancer we’re all
fighting for. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation are a worthy and
reliable beneficiary, and they have a longstanding relationship with
my boys, the 3Tards.
2. Broadcast my City’s Canada Day Celebration on which they expend so
much time, resources, energy, expense, and careful planning to the
whole world via www.anterockstar.com. This will allow us to showcase
Oshawa at its best, including providing exposure to the talent that
will be performing that day. Full credits will run at the end of the
broadcast. Given the amount of press this event is already generating,
the unique angle created by the broadcast, fundraiser, and video
shoot, and the sheer power of a crowd full of Citizens of Oshawa
promoting themselves to all their friends and family to watch our
party online guarantees a blockbuster.
Why? To establish myself and my City as the stars that they are.
3. Negotiate an agreement with the City of Oshawa to allow me to
produce a video for the 3Tards song “Oshawa”, which they would, at
their editorial discretion, allow to be released on their website
www.oshawa.ca and syndicated online as a sign for all to see of how
great Oshawa is, and how we are no longer preparing to be amazed. To
film my boys in action, as I intended last Saturday, and most of all,
capture my crowd scene full of people, shouting Oshawa with enthusiasm
and joy.
Why? To establish my boys as bonafide, undeniable ROCKSTARS before
they retire. Because they deserve it. Because that’s what my Band
inspire from me, and I know that’s what they consistently deliver. I
hitched a ride 3 years ago, and now I know I’ll never look back.
And what did we gain from Saturday?
Well, first and foremost… EXPERIENCE. Invaluable experience for all
the people like us who aim for bigger and better stages upon which to
mount a spectacle. Now we know what we can get away with, and yes…
what we will never get away with again.
Why? Because punk disturbs the peace, and incites ire.
Secondly, we obtained more footage of the goings on that day than you
could ever hope for, and will be using it to present you Anterockstar
Season III, and I’m sure y’all are aware by now, it’s gonna be a hot
summer. We begin airing weekly on July 1st, Canada Day.
Why? Because I committed to myself to accomplish a goal, and I’m
meeting it. I am very proud… to be Canadian :)
Thirdly, we gained power. And what do all great men want? More power.
So we’re going for more power, except we have this hungry wtich at the
wheel. As they say in punkland… suck it up (insert expletive here).
Why? Because power has a multiplicative effect on our personal powers,
and when you are trying to effect great change, you have to avail
yourself of all the power you can get. As we demonstrated, it might
take a mountain to move this molehill.
And of course, last, but in no way the least, is friends. This
exercise taught us all who our friends really are. That makes me feel
most powerful of all.
Like I can take on the Mayor…lol…
Not to sound intimidating, and to be honest, god this guy is a hell of
an adversary… the man drives a HARD bargain!
