My basic programming…

my basic programming has been laid down, like that of those before me,
for centuries.

Man schools his offspring as follows:

Recognition… we are taught to recognize, honor, respect, and
further… first ourselves, then each other, and then everything
around us.

Relationship: We are taught to recognize, honor, respect and nurture
relationships.

Patterns: We are taught to recognize, predict, and alter patterns.

Once you master this, you lather rinse repeat. The quicker you do all
this, the faster it all goes, and it is a hell of a powerful force
when applied against counterforce.

Can it overcome?

A few things of note this week:

Thank god John is back from Finland. It’s not that I miss him, cause I
know he’s there, but the floor just ain’t level. There’s something
about hearing John say “wow” everyday that does it for me :)

Oshawa’s making headlines again. Mayor …. “lumpy”? was it? is proud
of his new toy, and poo is being flung on the playground. I can’t call
him lumpy tho really… I mean, I live in Oshawa too and no matter my
personal feelings, I’d hate to have our highest municipal office
smeared in such a manner. Shame on all for bringing it down upon us.

I visited the highest office this country has to offer, and have been
granted an audience at noon on Sunday no less. I have the honor of
interviewing Dr. Colin Carrie, our Conservative MP, in his offices, in
connection with Shwatarded. His personal interest and office’s support
is something we have come to value, and look forward to his input on
Sunday.

It is interesting to review the time that has been put in to
developing a relationship with this office.

I am a devoted Liberal, from the earliest days of hearing my parents
extoll the virtues of Trudeau, to proudly bearing Paul Martin’s
standard upon his balancing of the books. The only real memories I
have of the conservatives are the Brian Mulroney fiasco followed up
with the blazing Kim Campbell mess. Although god love her, Trudeau had
his own first lady lose her head while in office, and Maggie couldn’t
even blame her hair color.

Enter the New Conservative Government. I dunno, can’t trust them yellow necks.

Fast forward to when we all start caring…

Enter small town(big dreams) Ontario practitioner, Dr. Colin Carrie.
My father’s been extolling his virtues since he moved here. I wake up
one morning to an election sign on my lawn (I’m sure my father had put
there) and I call his office to have it removed. I’m offered an
apology and a promise to remove (which doesn’t happen). I’m
understanding enough to know that one does one’s best with what one
has. Ball one.

I get the pleasure of a visit one summer, during our first year of
production on Anterockstar. I try and communicate the magnitude of who
I am/what I offer. I take away from it the knowledge I’d already found
on the internet about the procedure to do business with Government. :)
I don’t like John Baird, and I refuse to do business with him. But I
like Dr. Carrie… he came to my house, and listened to me at my
kitchen table. Ball two.

Fast forward next “touching base” campaign. Dr. Carrie calls my home
on a Sunday evening (such calls my father brags come in regularly to
his home) to discuss a world matter of some importance to me, which I
had brought to his attention. We have a valuable conversation where I
remember him mentioning the position of his offices to remind him of
who he’s fighting for. Ball three.

Fast forward last election… I no longer have a lawn to put a sign
on, but I have my camera, and we shoot the first of our politicus
series with Dr. Carrie, and bring his attention to the state of the
arts in Canada. He offers us his views, and we balance them off with
our boy in red, Sean Godfrey. Ball four… that’s a walk.

We are later invited to a meeting at Dr. Carrie’s office to re-present
who we are, and what we offer. We engage in some coorespondance as
follow up, but from what I now understand, communications suffered as
a result of shifting positions. No worry, who am I to hold a grudge
for silence, I walk over to Dr. Carrie’s office one afternoon, and
deliver a handwritten monogrammed invitation to my party. Would have
been a strike…

But there was contact.

I have since been privy to a dialogue and privilege that is hard and
long earned, of which I am proud, and know without a doubt, will be
prosperous for all.
