Afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I just wanted to share some thoughts on what happened last weekend that I had walking to my counselor’s appointment this afternoon.
I walk from Mill to Wentworth on the path to go to the Counselor at the OW office. Ya, I’m a recipient, and I’m a mental case… big surprise.
These things that happened, or that thing that guy did, or however you want to put it, didn’t come without a warning.
It’s amazing how conscious I was walking today of my surroundings, cause the walk takes me right past the scene.
I didn’t look for it, I didn’t want to see, it was bad enough I knew it happened….But I did know it happened.
I was very vigilant as I got off the creek at Glen, and through the backbrush there. Lotsa places for people to hide.
I think to myself, great, now I’m afraid of boogeymen…. but… not really, cause I’m one of those potential boogeymen. Let’s face it… I’m on ow, have been for longer than we all want me to be, and despite efforts to the opposite on behalf of all parties, I’m still on OW.
This of course has the result of impacting my entire life, associating me with a whole bunch of stigmas and judgements which cause me (as a conscious human being) to compound my efforts so as to climb outta my hole…. but these efforts seem only to compound my problems.
I’m thankful I am still conscious enough to realize this and hopefully apply myself differently, so that my life will take a course more in keeping with what we all aspire to… health, security, comfort… these things beget happiness, harmony…more health… security… comfort… and most importantly of all… INDEPENDANCE.
These poor people tragically have become the warning beacon for the rest of us to smarten up.
Wake up.
I think we all need to appreciate each other just a little more and try and find solutions to problems that don’t create bigger ones. People get hairy when you threaten their survival or their posterity, and trust me, the welfare office is getting busier, and not only that… what happens there when someone who happens to be in a real serious type bind comes smacking up against the wall of bureaucracy?

Tragedy happens. We need to seize this opportunity as a community to learn and change our own personal behaviours, and take action in an effort to avoid accidental tragic consequences, and bring about purposeful, willful change in our community, and our lives.
