The reasons why

It’s Sunday… another bloody Sunday. The sun is shining outside my window, and my little black cloud is still firmly stuck above my head, but I’m working on that. The Cure always helps…

The Cure have always been my favorite muse… We’ve been waiting for new stuff from them for as long as Anterockstar has been in production…3 years nearly now. Long time to wait for something Robert was so excited about when he first started, after Curiosa he was all pumped to put out some shit again (The Cure (the album) was a hot knife through butter production compared to what’s gone on for 4:13 dream. Same thing with the supporting tour. One has to wonder what the hell’s gone on in that time… lineup changes, writer’s blocks, negotiations, thinking, re-thinking, planning, trying, failing… and finally we have a record ladies and gentlemen.

I don’t know if it’s officially in stores yet, it was supposed to be on the 13th. I don’t have the money yet to pick up my vynil copy I ordered from Star Records, so it doesn’t matter to me. I don’t have a turntable either, but you know… Christmas is coming right? I’m told good things come to those who wait.

Waiting is always hard, it’s the most difficult thing to do for some of us. You’re still, you keep yourself company for as long as you can, you avoid yourself for as long as you can, then you start with the distractions…

In the mean time I’ve been listening to their stuff on youtube, you know, to tease myself. There’s not alot of the recorded stuff on youtube, so I am hearing the new stuff live. It’s hard enough to understand what Robert’s saying when his track is mastered, let alone when he’s feeding off the emotions of a stadium full of people.

He pulled a surprising stunt on his website the other day. There’s this whole “ask Robert” exclusive interview being done on www.thecure.com.… we all know how I would jump at (and have lobbied for) the chance to ask Robert anything… good thing I did jump cause apparently the thing was only open for a few hours. I didn’t have to think long about my question, I guess it’s the only one I could ask really given the circumstances, I mean… I know everything else. I submitted my question in time, but no news yet on when these answers are coming…

so I wait (and refresh the site a million times a day).

And wonder if he’ll get to answering my question… (and wonder if my guesses are right).

I’m not going to say what I asked just yet, so far that’s between me and whoever’s on the other end of the email address I submitted my question to (well, and Kevin of course, but then again, he and I are kindof the same mind).

I’d say I can’t wait, but I have to, and besides, that would just make waiting harder. In the mean time I have so much to keep me busy though… I won’t even think about it, and let him surprise me again.
